Flat-pack furniture is quick to buy, but it is made to fit everyone, so it rarely fits anyone perfectly. A piece built to order is made for your room, your family and the way you use it. Here is what you get when you have furniture made by a local workshop like ours in Cape Town.
It fits your space
Awkward alcove, sloping ceiling or a bedroom that needs a bunk bed with a trundle underneath? Custom pieces are built to your measurements, so they use every centimetre. Our built-in cupboards and custom beds are made to the exact size of your room.
Solid timber, not chipboard
We build in solid pine. Our standard is B-grade pine, which is strong and has knots and natural character. If you want a cleaner, more even look, A-grade pine has fewer knots and costs more. Solid timber can be sanded, refinished and repaired, where a chipboard panel usually cannot.
You choose the details
You pick the stain or paint colour, the edge profile, the tabletop thickness and the leg style. A dining table can be made to seat 4, 6 or 8, with matching benches if you want them.
You know who made it
When you order from a small workshop, you talk to the person building your piece. If something needs adjusting, you can WhatsApp us. Every piece also has a 90-day craftsmanship warranty from delivery.
Is it more expensive?
Sometimes it costs more than flat-pack at the start. But a solid piece that fits properly, can be repaired and does not wobble after a year often works out cheaper over time. The fastest way to find out is to ask for a quote: send us a rough size and a photo of the space.
