Wooden Mud Kitchens: Custom Built in Cape Town
A wooden mud kitchen gives children their own spot to mix, pour, scoop and cook up mud pies outside. We build each one to order in our Cape Town workshop, sized to your garden and to your children's height.
Mud kitchens suit gardens, patios and play areas at schools and creches. You choose the length, the worktop height, the stain or paint colour and the edge details. We can add basins, a tap, shelves, a chalkboard and hooks for pots and spoons. Our standard timber is B-grade pine, which is strong and full of natural knots. A-grade pine gives a cleaner look and costs more.
To order, send us a photo, a sketch or a rough size on WhatsApp or through the quote form. We suggest sizes, timber and a finish, then send you a quote. A deposit starts the build, and we deliver and set it up when it is done.

How long does a mud kitchen take to make?
Every mud kitchen is made to order, so timing depends on the size, the design and how busy the workshop is. Our current lead time is [LEAD TIME TBC], and we confirm it with your quote.
Do you deliver and install?
Yes. We deliver and install in Cape Town and surrounds, and our delivery area is [DELIVERY AREA TBC]. You can also collect from our workshop.
Will a pine mud kitchen last outdoors?
Pine used outdoors must be sealed, then resealed regularly to keep it protected from sun and rain. We seal with [TIMBER TREATMENT TBC] and will tell you how often to reseal. Rinsing off mud and letting it dry in the sun helps too.
Can you build it to suit my child's height?
Yes. Tell us your child's age or height and we set the worktop to suit. We can also change the length, the colour and the features, such as adding a second basin.
How do the deposit and payment work?
We ask for a deposit of [DEPOSIT TBC] to start the build, and the balance is due on completion, before delivery or collection. Custom work is non-refundable once we have started, but you get a full refund if you cancel within 48 hours of ordering.
