Solid pine furniture lasts a long time if you look after it. These are the habits we suggest to customers when we deliver a new piece.
Dust with a soft, dry cloth
Dust regularly so grit does not scratch the finish. A soft, dry cloth is enough. Avoid spray cleaners that are not made for wood.
Wipe spills straight away
Wipe up spills with a damp cloth, then dry the area. Standing water can mark the finish and swell the timber.
Use coasters and mats
Hot mugs, wet glasses and pots leave rings. Coasters, placemats and trivets protect dining tables and coffee tables that get daily use.
Keep it out of harsh sun
Strong sun through a window can fade the finish and dry out the timber, which can lead to small cracks. Curtains or blinds help, and so does moving the piece now and then.
Outdoor pieces need resealing
Pine used outside must be sealed and then resealed regularly against sun and rain. This applies to pergolas, mud kitchens, chicken coops and garden furniture. We tell you which product we used and how often to reseal when we deliver. [RESEAL INTERVAL TBC]
Refresh the finish when it looks tired
Every so often, a light polish or wax suited to your finish brings back the shine. Follow the product instructions. If a piece needs more than that, solid timber can be sanded back and refinished: WhatsApp us a photo and we will tell you what we suggest.
